The statue shows Vicente Yañez Pinzón with his dying brother Martin Alonso. Both man are placed in a ship with a mast, on which a sail with three crosses.

Monumento erigido por el Excmo. Ayuntamiento de Palos de la Frontera y la Real Sociedad Palosfila Pinzoniana con motivo del quinto centenario del descubrimiento del Brasil. Concretamente en la costa denominada Cabo de Santo Agostinho del Estado de Pernambuco.
Siendo alcalde presidente Iltmo. Sr. D. Carmelo Romero Fernandez. Prefeito Cabo de Santo Agostinho Iltmo. Sr. D. Elias Gomez da Silva. Presidente Real Sdad. Palosfila Pinzoniana Excmo. Sr. D. Diego Garcia Hernandez.
Inaugurado el dia 19 de Noviembre de 1.999. Conmemoracion de la salida de la expedicion descubridora del Brasil que culmino felizmente el dia 26 de Enero del año 1.500 dia de la llegada al Brasil y hermanamiento con la ciudad de Cabo de Santo Agostinho.
Translation: To Vincent Yáñez Pinzón. Favorite son of our town. Monument erected by the Excmo. Town Council of Palos de la Frontera and the Royal Pinzon's Palosphila Society, on the occasion of the fifth centenary of the discovery of Brazil. Specifically on the shore called Cape of Saint Agostinho, State of Pernanbuco. Being the Ilmo. Mr. D. Carmel Romero Fernandez mayor president. Mr. D. Elías Gomez da Silva, chief prefect of Saint Agostinho. Mr. D. Diego García Hernandez, President of the Royal Pinzon's Palosphila Society. Inaugurated on November 19, 1999. Commemoration of the departure of the expedition that discovered Brazil, happily ending on January 26, 1500 a day on which it arrived at Brazil and the brotherhood with the city of the Cape of Saint Agostinho.
