Description

A nymph of white Tyrolean marble sitz on the fountain column, she is popularly called 'Mainweibchen' (Little Lady of the Main). At the base of the column four a lizard, a turtle, a unknown creature and a crocodile spout water. On the edge of the fountain basin sit two bronze putti with water-breathing mythical creatures spouting water.

Annotation

Model for the nymph was 19-year-old Margarete Endres a laundress from Niederrad, later the wife of musician Eduard Gelbart. The bronze parts were molten down in World War II. They were reconstructed with the help of old photos in 2006.
