national heroine of France, beatified in 1909 and canonized in 1920. She led the French army to several important victories during the Hundred Years' War
Union artistique de Vaucouleurs
Cast-iron statue of Jeanne d'Arc as a virgin warrior in armour, standing with her right hand on her heart and with her left hand she holds a standard next to her heart. Her helmet is on the floor next to her right foot.
This is model no. 87 of the Vaucouleurs factory: 'Jeanne d'Arc au sacre tenant son étendard' (Joan of Arc at the coronation holding her standard).
The statue is the centerpiece of a war memorial of red sandstone. In panels on both sides of the statue are the names of the victims of both world wars. At the foot of the memorial are two bronze reliefs showing the burning of Sengern and Linthal on 25 October 1914 by the Württembergisches Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiment Nr 123:
victimes de guerre
