Statue of Castel sitting and studying a fungus which he holds in his left hand. His left arm rests on a tree trunk. At his foot, some fungi.

Annotation

The statue was commissioned in 1836 by the Comte de Chevigné, pupil and friend of Castel, for his house in Boursault (Marne). In 1868 he sold the statue to the town of Vire, where it was inaugurated on 12 September 1869.
