Annotation

At the initiative of Mayor J. Lartigue, in 1892 a bronze statue by Croisy was erected. In 1918 the statue was removed by the Germans. An exact copy made by Derville as erected in 1926 at the north end of the square. Under the Vichy regime 1942-1944 the statue was melted. After the war, it was replaced by a stone statue made by Grattesat.
