Description

Bronze statue of a soldier in a semi-circular portico with a relief of soldiers in trenches and text louvemont - fort de vaux on the front side of the frieze and the names of battles on the back side (la marne 1914 - verdun - la marne 1918).

Annotation

The design of the monument was based on a statue of a soldier exposed by Costa in Paris in 1920; with some variations this statue was also used for the war memorials of La Rochelle and Lézignan d'Aude.
