Description

Sculpture made of steel sheets welded together around a signpost swimming, showing a kneeled man in an atmospheric diving suit, above him a scuba diver with on his shoulders a young man. Divers acts as an informal sign for Whitstable Leisure Pool and celebrates Whitstable as the home of deep sea diving where the diving helmet was first invented.

In 1829 Charles Anthony Deane and John Deane of Whitstable designed the first air-pumped diving helmet for use with a diving suit.
