Halifax / Duke of Wellington Regimental memorial   Halifax / Duke of Wellington Regimental memorial

Description

The monument is a pyramidal sculpture group, with four persons: three (four?) soldiers of Regiment from different eras spanning the Regiment's history: a 20th century soldier stands of the top of a steep rock, the other is standing in front of the rock, the third stands on guard on a small plateau on the right side, and the fourth running in attack from the left side. At the back of the rock stand the flag of the Regiment. Different smal sculptures and reliefs are in the rock, as well as the names of ten soldiers who got the Victoria Cross, the nicknames of the Regiment: "The Dukes" and "The Havercake Lads" and the words "the west riding"
