This monument, relocated to this site in 2012
honours a remarkable son of Foxford, Co Mayo.
Still a hero to the people of Argentina
he was a key figure in their war of Independence
against Spain and successfully defended Argentina against Brazil
Unveiled by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Naoise É'Muirí, on 25th August 2012.

honra a un excepcional hijo de Foxford, Condado de Mayo.
Aún considerado un héroe por el pueblo argentino
fue uno figura clave en la guerra por la Independencia
contra España y defendió exitosamente a la República Argentina contra Brasil.
Inaugurado por el Alcalde de Dublin, Naoise É'Muirí, el 25 de agosto de 2012.

Annotation

The statue was commissioned by the Admiral Browne Society and was unveiled by Án Taoiseach, Mr. Bertie Ahearn TD. It was cast in Argentina and is a replica of one that stands in Buenos Aires.
