Tralee - Trá Lí / Pikeman Monument

WHEN MY SPIRIT
shall have joined
those bands of
MARTYRED HEROES
who have shed their blood
ON THE SCAFFOLD
and in the field
in defence of their country
this is my only hope
that my memory and name
may serve to animate those
WHO SURVIVE ME

Portrait
Tralee - Trá Lí / Pikeman Monument

oh my countrymen
look up look up
ARISE
from the death dust
where you have
long been lying
and let the light of liberty
visit your eyes
and touch your souls
let your ears drink
in the blessed words
liberty fraternity
and equality
which are soon to ring
from pole to pole

WE SHALL DIE
as many thousands
HAVE DIED
for the sake of their beloved
LAND
and in defence of it
we will die
proudly and triumphantly
in defence of republican
PRINCIPLES
and the liberty of
an oppressed
and enslaved people

God Save Ireland
