Annotation

This sculpture, intended for to present Autonomy Square (Praça do Autonomia), was inaugurated on 21 October 1988 at Avenida do Mar. As the arrangement of the square proceeded, public controverse led to the transfer two years later, to the present location, which then was named Peace Square (Largo da Paz). On the Praça do Autonomia the Autonomy statue was placed, originally inteded for the roundabout near to the airport in Santa Cruz.
