Bronze statue.

TO PUSHKIN The talks of me will spread across whole great Russia,
And any tongue living therein will call me (remember my name),
be it a proud grandson of the Slavs, a Finn
or a Tungus presently a savage,
and a Kalmyk the friend of steppes.
in 1880
And for long I will be pleasant to the people
because I've been waking good feelings by my lire,
because I have panegyrized freedom in our cruel age
and because I had called for mercy to the fallen.

Paid for by public donations and unveiled in 1880 to eulogies by Ivan Turgenev and other writers, the statue was moved from its original location on the other side of Tverskaya ulitsa to its present site in 1950.

The texts on the sides of the pedestal are two strophes of Pushkin's poem based on Horatius, Exegi monumentum (Carmina III, 30).
