The sculpture 'Bältespännarna' by Johan Peter Molin was first produced in zinc in 1859 and placed outside Stora Teatern (the Grand Theatre) in Göteborg, after it had been exhibited in Paris the same year. It was replaced in 1914 with the current version made from bronze, in the park named after the statue, Bältesspännarparken.
An other copy of the work exists in Stockholm.
