Description

In 1865 the academic sculptor Franc Ksaver Zajec made a bust of Dr. France Prešeren, which is the first sculpture of the poet ever made. For many years the bust was regarded as lost, but in 1991 it was found again. The plaster original was restored and four bronze casts were made. The bust in Vrba was sculpted by Vasja Ulrich and was unveiled on 3 December 2000, to mark the 200th anniversary of the poet's birth. It is placed so that it greets everyone who comes to Vrba.
