Bas-relief sculpture showing George Washington, Ben Franklin, James Madison and Alexander Hamilton signing the Constitution of the United States. In the foreground the Independence Hall at Philadelphia, in the background a world map where the area of the United States (of 1787) is gold colored.

The Preamble of the Constitution of the United States, 1787:
We the People of the United States
in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure
the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty
to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish
this Constitution for the United States of America.

The second paragraph of the Declaration of Indenpendence, 1776:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are
endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life,
Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are

depict the images of george washington, ben
franklin, james madison and alexander hamilton
signing the constitution of the united states. the
preamble to the constitution is superimposed on a map
of the world to signify the impact it has made on the
nations of the world. also pictured is independence
hall in philadelphia where the signing took place,
with the immortal words of the declaration of
independence inscribed below.

it is our hope that this monument will not just
honor the past but endeavor to give inspiration to
the youth who come to visit our capitol, as it is the
youth of today who will determine the future and
destiny of tomorrow...
