De Gemeenteraad van Groeksbeek heeft besloten deze nieuwe woonwijk naar Generaal Gavon te noemen. Een monument in de vorm van een ster met inscriptie komt tot stand op initiatief van burgemeester L.A.A. van Gils.
12 juni 1994
Groesbeek Airborne Vrienden, het Holland Chapter van de US 82nd Airborne Division, bouwen de twee muren met hierop de woorden waarmee Generaal Gavin zijn rapport over de Holland Operatie afsloot. Met dochters en kleindochter onthult mevrouw J.E. Gavin dit monument, in aanwezigheid van "All American" veteranen, komend van Normandië, en vele Nederlandse burgers.
17 september 1994
Op de linker vleugel van het monument zijn de airborne symbolen PARACHUTE en GLIDER toegevoegd en worden onthuld door Market Garden glidermen en glider pilots tijdens de officiële viering van 50 jaar Bevrijding.

Links van het monument is een didactisch fronton geplaatst. Het wordt onthuld door veteranen van US IXth Troop Carrier Command.

Het Generaal Gavin Monument is overgedragen aan de Gemeente Groesbeek en wordt toevertrouwd aan de zorg en waakzaamheid van velen die geloven in vrede, in het bijzijn van veteranen van de 80th Airborne Anti Aircraft Association en airbornes van 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, SETAF, gestationeerd in Europa voor hulpprogramma's en vredestaken.

The Groeksbeek Town Council has decided to dedicate a street in a new residential area to General Gavin. On the initiative of mayor L.A.A. van Gils, a star-shaped engraved monument has been placed at the entrance to this Gen. Gavinstraat.
12 June 1994
The Groesbeek Airborne Friends, the Holland Chapter of the US 82nd Airborne Division, have added walls to the monument, inscribed with the final words of Gen. Gavin's report on the Holland Operation. Together with her granddaughter, Mrs J.E. Gavin unveils this new monument in the presence of her daughters, "All American" veterans, who have just visited Normandy, and many Dutch people.
17 September 1994
On the left wall of the monument the airborne symbols of parachute and glider have been added and are unveiled by Market Garden glidermen and glider pilots during the official commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation.
17 September 1995
To the left of the monument an educational plaque has been placed, which is unveiled by veterans of the US IXth Troop Carrier Command.
17 September 1997
The care of the General Gavin Monument is formally entrusted to all thos who beleive in peace, in the presence of veterans of the 80th Airborne Anti Aircraft Bn Association and paratroopers of the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, SETAF, stationed in Europe for aid programmes and peace missions.
