Beschrijving / Description

'Totem' met vier centrale motieven: een molen, een boerenpaard, een gans en de typische polderwaterlopen – grachten en welen. Bovenaan prijkt een vlam, symbool voor zowel warmte en verbondenheid als voor de nabijheid van de industrie, die letterlijk licht brengt in de dorpen wanneer er 's avonds wordt afgefakkeld.
De sculptuur brengt de ziel en identiteit van de Antwerpse polderdorpen in beeld.

'Totem' featuring four central motifs: a windmill, a farm horse, a goose and the characteristic waterways of the polder – canals and drainage ditches. At the top is a flame, symbolising both warmth and a sense of community, as well as the proximity of industry, which literally brings light to the villages when flaring takes place in the evening.
The sculpture captures the spirit and identity of Antwerp’s polder villages.
