Description
Statue of Simpélourd (simple et lourd = simple and heavy), also called Mononk (Mon Oncle = my Uncle). He is the vedette of Soignies folklore festival. He is the symbol of the humiliated spouse, who was led by drunk comrades under great hilarity of the audience through the streets of the city. Today he is the image of the happy, joking, cozy inhabitant of Soignies, who has fun for everything and nothing.
