Description

Aan de buitengevel van de Sint-Hermesbasiliek bevindt zich slechts één heiligenbeeld, nl. in de topgevel van het zuidtransept tegenover het Koning Albertpark. Vermoedelijk gaat het hier om Sint Hermes, alhoewel die gewoonlijk op afgebeeld wordt als Romeins stadsprefect die te paard de duivel aan een ketting leidt. Afgebeeld is echter een bisschop.

There is only one statue of a saint on the exterior facade of Saint Hermes' Basilica, in the gable of the south transept facing Koning Albert Park. Presumably this is Saint Hermes, although he is usually depicted as a Roman city prefect on horseback leading the devil on a chain. Pictured, however, is a bishop.
