Statues - Hither & Thither

 

Description

Bas-reliëf van 9x9 m waarop allerlei kleurrijke bommelfiguren zijn aangebracht. Links boven, met de bel in de hand, zien we een voorstelling van Ephrem Delmotte, stichter van de Bommelsfeesten op Zotte Maandag, de eerste maandag ná Driekoningen. Op deze dag vindt de Bonmostoet plaats, een folkloristische carnavaleske stoet met fanfares, reuzen, gekostumeerde groepen en gemaskerde 'Bonmos'.
De voorstellingen zijn na 1998 en voor 2008 een keer veranderd, zoals blijkt uit de foto's op Ontdek Ronse en de Beeldbank Vlaanderen, toen is ook Delmotte erbij gezet (rechterfoto hierboven).

Top left, with bell in hand, we see a depiction of Ephrem Delmotte (photo top right), founder of the Bommel festivals on Fools' Monday, the first Monday after Epiphany. On this day, the Bonmostoet takes place, a folkloric carnival procession with brass bands, giants, costumed groups and masked 'Bonmos'..
The figures were recreated in slightly different form between 1998 and 2008, as shown in the photos on Ontdek Ronse and the Beeldbank Vlaanderen, then Delmotte was also added.
