Statues - Hither & Thither

 

Description

Two bronze statues without pedestal the two writers of Minas Gerais. The statues draw attention to the climate of causality they convey, and this idea can be easily understood in the gesture of Pedro Nava touching the elbow of Drummond amid the pedestrians who pass through the place.

City hall of Belo Horizonte The 1920s mark a period of intense effervescence in the cultural production of Belo Horizonte. And, here, one address stands out in a special way: Rua da Bahia, with its caf…s and newspaper and magazine offices. In the commemorations of the 106th year of the city, with the installation of these statues, the City Hall of Belo Horizonte honours two of the many literary talents that immortalized the land of Minas Gerais and this street: the poet Carlos Drummond de Andrade and the memorialist Pedro Nava.
