The Virgin Mary Surrounded by Sunrays

Description

Marble statue of the crowned Virgin Mary with the Infant Jesus holding an orb, surrounded by golden rays of light.

Jeronym Barthel and his son Melchior are mentioned in the literature as sculptors(1). As Melchior was born in 1625, he cannot have been involved. The date 1626 is certainly correct. However, several Czech sources name Kašpar Bechteler as the creator, as the Prague.eu website.
