Statues - Hither & Thither

 

Description

At the start of Komenskeho náměstí, there are two statues of saints on the chamfered corners. On the south side is this statue of Saint Jude Thaddeus, and on the north side is a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk (see here). These statues to mark the start and end point of the pilgrimage routes to Chrudim and Stará Boleslav.
In his right hand Saint Jude Thaddeus holds a book and in his left hand a club. At his feet are two putti. The left one holds a medallion with an image of the Saviour of Chrudim, and the right one holds a blank cartouche.
