Description

Sculpture with an intricate composition depicting Hercules, believed to be invincible, strangling a lion with his bare hands. The athletic male nude and the lion tearing its jaws open are so intertwined that the group is only revealed by walking around.

Sculptures of the Kolonnadenhof

The colonnade courtyard "Kolonnadenhof" connects the building ensemble of the Old National Gallery, the New Museum and the Pergamon Museum on the Museum Island. It is enclosed on three sides by columns and pillars and has numerous bronze sculptures exhibited as an open air museum.
