French physicist, mathematician and inventor, best known for his pioneering invention of the steam digester, the forerunner of the steam engine. During his stay in Kassel, in 1704, he constructed a ship powered by his steam engine, mechanically linked to paddles. Geschaffen vom Kasseler Bildhauer
Hans Everding (1876-1914).
Er erinnert an den
Physiker Denis Papin (1647-1712),
der als Hugenotte nach Hessen geflohen,
in Kassel 1695-1707,
meist hier vor dem Ottoneum,
seine Versuche mit der Dampfkraft vornahm.
