Description

Statue of Philip I the Magnanimous, sitting on a square block. In his left hand he holds a book, with the text 'das wort gottes währet in ewigkeit' (The word of God is eternal).

At the front on the 'block' is his name, on the right side his coat-of-arms and his dates 1504-1567, and on the back a coat-of-arms and the sculptor's and founder's name.

Philipps-Denkmal

2001, anlässlich der 475-Jahr-Feier der
Homberger Synode von 1526, die nach
dem Willem Philipps des Großmütigen,
die Reformation in Hessen einführte,
wurde die von Prof. Rumpf gestaltete
und von Dr. Ellenberger, Spross einer
alten Homberger Familie, gestiftete
Bronceplastik aufgestellt.
