Description

Bronze equestrian statue of Grand Duke Frederick Francis II on a richly ornamented pedestal.

At the four corners sit allegorical representation of the four virtues of a monarch:

Stärke / Strength: warrior with sword and shield.

Gerechtigkeit / Justice: old man with a large tablet with the word gesetz ans scales.

Weisheit / Wisdom: old man with a book on his lap.

Glaube / Faith: young woman.

1. Front: The Grand-Duke's coat of arms and his name friedrich franz ii.
2. Back: Shield with the Grand Duke's dates of birth, accession to the throne and dead: * mdcccxxiii mdccxlii mdccclxxxiii, and a dedication das dankbare mecklenburg.

   On the sides two scenes from the Grand-Duke's life with in the bottom border the names of the depicted persons.
