Description

Bust of Meyer with caption bernhard lucas meyer.
The bust, of which several identical examples exist, originally belonged to Meyer's eldest son and was given to the foundation of the same name by Anna Margret Janovicz, Meyer's granddaughter.

NB. Born in the Netherlands, his name in his birth record is written as 'Gerard Lucas Meijer'. In the Neue Deutsche Biographie the place of birth is given as 'Burgerbrug-Zyde' which is misspelling for Burgerbrug, Zijpe (Zijpe is the municipality in which the village of Burgerbrug lies.
