Description

The tympanum, which dates from around the middle of the 12th century, depicts the enthroned Christ on a rainbow. He holds the cross in his hand hand, which is regarded as a symbol of victory. To his left and right are the two saints Mary and Dionysius, the patron saints of the collegiate church. In the margin is the inscription: "porta populorum, vita piorum, regula morum (The gate of the people, the life of the pious, the rule of morals).
This tympanum is now located above the southern main door in the transept. It has been placed there at the renovation of the church in 1912, whereas it was previously mounted above the small south door of the nave. It probably belongs to the burnt down Romanesque part of the church.
