Sackträger-BrunnenBag Carrier Fountain |
Franz Xaver Marmon
1912 |

The fountain was built in 1912 after a competition for a fountain on Witten's Kornmarkt announced from the end of 1911 to the beginning of 1912. The design by the Witten town architect Alois Baur and the Sigmaringen sculptor Franz (Xaver) Marmon was implemented. In 1990 the fountain was moved from Kornmarkt to Heilenstraße, with the lower part of the fountain being replaced by a redesign. The original of Marmon's bag carrier statue figure has been preserved.
