Annotation

Unveiled in April 1912 by the Duke of Argyle, watched by the sculptor Mrs Scott, wife of Polar explorer Capt Scott, together with Charles Rolls' parents Lord and Lady Llangattock (Sadly, unbeknown to anyone present, Captain Scott had perished after reaching the North Pole, the news taking months to reach the UK.)

Kathleen Scott, born Edith Agnes Kathleen Bruce (Carlton in Lindrick, Bassetlaw, Nottinghamshire, 1878 - 1947), British sculptor, she married the Antarctic explorer Captain Robert Scott in 1908 and secondly with Edward Hilton Young, 1st Baron Kennet, in 1922 (Wikipedia).
