Ghostly Tommies rise up in remembrance: Silhouettes of 6ft tall WWI soldiers emerge to mark 100 years since the end of the First world war as a centenary commemoration of the end of the 1914-1918 war. They are installed where the men and women came from across the country.
The perspex Tommy is partly inspired by a photograph taken in WWI by Horace Nicholls (1867-1941).
[We also saw one in Hemel Hempstead, but in such a position that we could not make a photo. Because it is only an outline, you need a more or less plain background, and that was in Hemel Hempstead's shopping mall not the case].
