Marble statue of a soldier on a pedestal. On the front of the pedestal a portrait medallion of Queen Victoria. Unveiled 22 July 1904.

& Men of the lint,
Militia & Volunteer Battalions
of the King's Shropshire Light Infantry,
who were killed in action, & died
of wounds or disease whilst serving with the
2nd Battalion of the King's Shropshire L.I. (85th L.I.)
in the Transvaal, Orange River Colony,
& Cape Colony,
during the campaign in South Africa, 1899-1902.
