1932 |

Sculpture of a sitting woman dressed in a stylized folk costume from the Dalmatian hinterland. The female character holds on her lap a massive stone slab on which is the title 'Povijest Hrvata' in the Glagolitic alphabet:
ⰒⰑⰂⰡⰔⰕⰟ ⰘⰓⰟⰂⰀⰕⰟ
(some ligatures as two letters, see Croatian History). The sculpure embodies the care of mothers and guardians of national heritage and history and is placed in the front court of the Facuty of Law of Zagreb University. It is assumed that the model was the sculptor's mother Marte Kurobase. A marbe version of this statue is in Belgrade.
