Statues - Hither & Thither

 

Description

1. surmounted by a sculpture group showing God the Father (old man with orb making a blessing gesture), the Son (Jesus, holding a cross) and the Holy Ghost (a dove in the center of the radiating sun). They sit on clouds and are surrounded with a few small angels.

   1. SE: Szűz Mária / Saint Mary, crowned by angels.
      Saint Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ (Wikipedia).
   2. N: Keresztelő Szent János / Saint John the Baptist, with cross staff.
      (c. 6 BC- c. 36 AD), itinerant preacher and a major religious figure who led a movement of baptism at the Jordan River. He baptized Jesus at "Bethany beyond the Jordan." (Wikipedia).

   4. Szent Sebestyén / Saint Sebastian, tied to a tree and shot by arrows.
      (died c. 288), martyr, killed during the Roman emperor Diocletian's persecution of Christians (Wikipedia).
   5. Szent Rókus / Saint Roch, in pilgrim's outfit with staff, and showing his tigh, next to him a dog with bread in his mouth.
