Description

Bronze statue of Caesar as imperator, wearing lorica (cuirass) and paludamentum (short military cloack). Copy of the antique marble statue in the Palazzo Senatorio, Capitoline Museum, in Rome, dating from the reign of Trajan (AD 98-117) (Roman Artworks).

Signature

The sign with the names of the donors (Town of Savignano, Rubicona Accademia and Lions Club) is signed 'Ranz 03'.

Savignano sul Rubicone - Giulio Cesare

The bridge over the Rubicon is the border between 'Roma' and 'Gallia' (= Gallia Cisalpina, Cisalpine Gaul - Gaul on this side of the Alps) as is indicated by signs on both sides of the bridge. Julius Caesar stands on the Roman side of the bridge.
