The Church of the Incarnation was inaugurated in 1708. It suffered heavy destruction with the earthquake of 1755, being restored and much altered in 1784, according to the plan of the Architect Manuel Caetano de Sousa, the works were finished in 1875. The façade is in a Neoclassical style combined with several late 'Rocaille' elements, with interesting images of Santa Catarina that were part of the old medieval gate at that location.
Above the main, central door is a relief from the original church, showing the annunciation, and in niches above the sides doors 16th-century statues of Our Lady of Loreto and St. Catherine (right).
