Annotation
The sculpture and the marker were both sponsored by Unico National, a service organization whose members are Italian Americans. The sculpture was placed at its present site when West Park was renamed Columbus Park. The marker was added in 1992, as part of the 1992 park revitalization and in honor of the 500th anniversary of the Columbus voyage. Each side of the marker represents one hundred of the five hundred years since Columbus landed in America
Sculptor
- Lorenzo Ascasibar (1930),
Spanish sculptor of Vitoria.
