a continent, we shall be
inclined to pronounce
the voyage that led the way
to this new world as the
most epoch making event
of all that have occured
since the birth of christ
erected by his admiring
countrymen the 12th day of
october a.d. 1911

Annotation

The statue, reputedly the oldest Columbus statue on the West Coast, was raised in 1911, paid for by subscription by the Italian immigrant farmers.
