Memorial to Admiral Christopher Columbus

Description

A polygon-shaped, polished black granite memorial with an incised portrait bust of Columbus on the front. The slanted top of the sculpture features a map of 1492 depicting Columbus's three ships, the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria, and their route across the Atlantic. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania is marked as are the Carribean, Portugal, Spain (with Cadiz marked), North Africa, and the Mediterranean. The memorial has a rough-edged bottom tier and is set on a rectangular pavement with two stone benches.
